the tribe in ijok have spoken.. they prefer an indian teacher over a malay corporate figure to take care of their problems... and... people in ijok seems not interested in sending signal to the rotten umno-led government and the half-past-six cabinet...
why the umno-led bn won in ijok?!?...
the below mention are 3 simple reasons are based on my observation...
1) money politics... millions of ringgits poured over the approx 2 weeks before the by-election... buying of votes, land title, halls, building of mosques, sewing machines, washing machines, schools, road tarred, etc...
2) fear... after so many terms the umno-led bn leading in ijok, the people in ijok may feel uncomfortable to change the current governance, also they may fear things may change drastically if the umno-led bn were to lose and being sore losers they may pull-back everything the promised the people in ijok...
3) last chance... looking at the statistics for the past 3-4 terms, the last representative in ijok was certainly losing his grip in representating the people in ijok then... people may vote for the umno-led bn simply because they want to give them another chance with a new guy in the house..
watever it may be now... am wishing the newly elected representative all the best... looking at him.. a nice and decent looking guy.. but as the saying goes, looks can be deceiving...
p/s ; fear not pkr!... you people will prevail in the big battle which is the next general election!....

2 questions often asked...
1) many asked me this question... "do you think the opposition can run the country better than bn?!?..."
i normally reply them with another question... "why not give them a chance?!?..."
nobody can GUARANTEE that you everyone will have PERFECT time in malaysia then... guarantees are very hard to prove even one have complete and absolute certainty to prove it... can yr financial planner guarantee with a certain amount of returns?!?... can yr mechanic guarantee you with the spare parts he/she changed?!?...
the situation is definitely getting worse as the day passes by... corruption, racism, abuse, so-called religion freedom, so-called speech freedom, so-called press freedom, democracy, etc.. happening in the bright daylight and right infront of us, day in and day out.... why not give the authority/vote to someone to run the country?!?... with the situation we are going through now, am pretty sure, it will be for the better for all malaysians...
2) on another question... "will malaysia go into a 'chaotic stage' if there is a change in the umno-led government?!?..."
i normally reply them with a question... "can you see that far?!?..."...
i mean, come on... everything begins with a small little step... i personally and am sure many people out there too would rather go through a major changes in the country, watever it may be lah, than living in a comfort zone while looking at crime happening 'up there' everyday/every hour... there's an invisible rope which is tying us and controlling us without us even realising it...
give the opposition a chance in the next general election and you will definitely see some changes for the better...
p/s ; if not for the money politics, which is taxpayers money, umno-led bn is already long gone...

dilemma fever in ijok...
dilemma fever is hitting ijok real hard... especially on those fence sitters...
why?!?...
am sure many want a change after the umno-led bn is screwing up big time in ijok... but then again, am also sure many are afraid that the umno-led bn will pull back everything after the election and teach them a lesson...
am sure many want to support pkr... but then again, am also sure many are afraid bn will give them a hard time after the election and teach them a lesson...
hardcore psychological war is probably the name of the game which the umno-led bn is applying for this less-than-48-hours-to-go-campaigning...

Eighty per cent of the tourists are expected from Asian countries, with more than 60% from Singapore," he said."... Incidents may mar Malaysia's tourism bid
By Jonathan Kent
BBC News, Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia celebrates 50 years of independence this year and to mark the occasion it has launched Visit Malaysia Year 2007.
The country's palm-fringed beaches, affordably priced hotels, sprawling shopping malls, fantastic food and wildlife already make it one of Asia's premier destinations.
And this year its tourism authorities hope a big push will propel visitor numbers towards an astonishing target of 20 million.
But following an incident late last year, American Wayne Wright is far from convinced by the promise of Malaysian hospitality and the claim of its tourism slogan that it is truly Asia.
"I was walking in Chinatown," he told the BBC, "when a gentleman in very scruffy type clothes, nothing that you would associate with police or anyone in authority, walked up to me and asked me, "Can I see your passport?"."
Fearing a scam, Mr Wright refused and tried to move away.
"At that point he essentially lunged at me, grabbed me, put handcuffs on me really tightly and called for a few other people out in the crowd," he explained.
Mr Wright, a serving US Navy lawyer, says he protested that he was a US citizen and told the men who had grabbed him that his passport was in his hotel room, a matter of a few hundred meters away.
He was taken, shackled, through Chinatown and put into a caged truck used by the Malaysian immigration department.
'Worst experience'
There he met a second American, who had also been grabbed by men who refused to show any identification, Yahweh Passim Nam.
It became abundantly clear to Mr Wright and Mr Nam they had more in common than their nationality. Both they and every one of the 30 or so other people arrested in the same raid were black.
"At this time I'm knowing this is racial profiling, beyond a shadow of a doubt," said Mr Nam, an ex-US Navy serviceman and now a multi media engineer living in Vancouver, Canada.
"This is definitely some screwed up mission by some... militant group, trying to get Africans to take us somewhere," he said, adding that he feared for his life.
They were taken to an immigration detention centre where for almost 24 hours they say they were fed only bread and water, not allowed to go to the toilet and refused permission to contact the US embassy.
"I was treated inhumanely," said Mr Nam. "I felt like a dog, I felt like something worse than a dog."
Mr Wright agrees. "Honestly this was probably the worst experience I have had in my life," he said.
Both say that, when they were finally freed, immigration officers treated the matter as a joke, something that incensed them.
Morality patrol
Malaysia's Head of Immigration Enforcement Ishak Mohamad was approached by the BBC for comment, but was unavailable.
Nor would the prime minister's department comment, although a senior official privately cast doubt on the accounts of the two men.
However not only do they appear to bear one another out, but they are also backed up by the US embassy, which confirmed it provided consular assistance to have them released from custody. No charges were filed against the men.
The incident does not appear to be isolated.
Several Africans approached on the streets of Kuala Lumpur by the BBC over the issue reported facing discrimination in Malaysia, whether it be people refusing to sit next to them on public transport, taxis refusing to stop for them through to harassment by police and immigration officers.
Nor have recent problems been confined to people of African origin.
In October, a couple in their 60s from the US state of Alaska were woken at 0200 with threats to break down the door of their rented holiday apartment on Langkawi Island.
It was an Islamic morality patrol, which under Malaysian law has widespread powers over Muslims' behaviour.
"When I opened the door I saw six men, in my face, yelling at me that they want to inspect the apartment, that I'm Muslim and that they're coming in," Randal Barnhart said.
He told the men he was not Muslim and refused to let them enter, but they persisted.
"They started yelling, 'We want to see your woman, we want to see your woman'," an angry Mr Barnhart recalled.
"So I asked Carole, who was just wearing a sarong to stand back 15 feet in the light so they could see that she is a white woman - my wife of 42 years."
The intruders refused to leave without seeing a marriage certificate and were only persuaded to go after being shown the couple's passports.
Mr Barnhart says his wife suffered a nervous breakdown and returned to the US and he is currently pursuing legal action against the religious department.
But rather than disciplining the officers - who apparently broke the law by carrying out the raid without regular police in tow - local politicians defended them saying Mrs Barnhart was mistaken for a local Muslim because she liked to wear a sarong.
That assertion has been greeted with derision by some in Malaysia.
'Regrettable'
Malaysia's Tourism Minister Adnan Mansor defended the immigration department, pointing out that Malaysia has problems with illegal migration.
"Sorry to say especially there's a lot of Africans, black people, who come to our country and overstay," he said.
"What they did was just trying to clean up some of these people who've overstayed in our country."
Both Wayne Wright and Yahweh Passim Nam had not overstayed their welcome. They had legitimate tourist visas.
The minister says he is keen to repair the damage.
"Give us a chance and let us correct this," Mr Mansor said.
He has apologised to the Barnharts and acknowledges Malaysia has a problem with petty officials who readily abuse their power - a problem he says the government will address by re-educating them.
But it is not the kind of news the country needs on the cusp of its big tourism year.
Asta, the American Society of Travel Agents, described the incidents as regrettable.
"Authorities have an obligation to educate the local populace about the importance of tourism and their role and to be vigilant and protective of anti-tourist incidents," a spokesman told the BBC.
And more worrying still for Malaysians is that such incidents are merely symptomatic of a wider issue - public servants who are increasingly resistant to government control.
Newspaper columnist Dina Zaman says some Malaysians are looking to Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi to take a tougher line.
"They don't think he's authoritative enough," she believes.
"You need someone to actually sit down and say, 'Look you can't do this, you can't do that'. And yes, he's a nice man but with... the crime rate, all these things... it just makes you wonder whether he's too nice."
Millions of people will doubtless visit Malaysia during 2007 and most will have a very happy time.
But until Malaysia's bureaucracy wants to make sure they all do, some would-be visitors may be deciding to holiday elsewhere.

am i an anti-government person?!?...
heck no!...
me as a malaysian have the rights to know wat is going on in the country, to voice out my opinions, to help correct the wrong, to have freedom of speech, to struggle for the real democracy, etc...
me a kuchi rat have been very vocal lately and hope to bring some changes here and there simple because i feel, i see, i hear, etc.. the wrong doings of the current umno-led govt... they commit sins day and night right in front of me and if i don't do anything, i might as well leave the country like some of my friends... it's just not me...
am all for the current umno-led govt government... IF... they are doing the right things which brings the word democracy to the REAL and meaningful meaning... anyway, saw the capitalised IF there?!?...
also, 50 years is WAY TOO LONG for anyone and/or any party to be in power!....

the final push in ijok... do they have no choice but to do this?!?...
all ready for a trip to ijok this friday/saturday.. for the ceramahs, helping out, etc...
just got a phone call and apparently the police have stop issuing permit/s for ceramahs by the opposition since yesterday night... think umno-led bn have got the permit/s right until the polling day or even ON the polling day itself!... understand umno-led bn are already feeling the 'heat'!... :) ...
not sure how true is this... but, if this is proven to be true and election comission says and do nothing about this... then, perhaps another evidence that the election commission is the 15th/16th component party for the umno-led bn?!?...
some people say by-election/s is the ONLY time in between or perhaps near the general election to gauge the support fm the rakyats.. if the umno-ledbn fail in ijok probably means another lunas 'fracas'?!?... or probably we will have good time ahead until the next general election because the govt will start pumping in huge money in every sector and every place possible and get our trust/support again?!?..
is ijok perhaps the mother of all by-elections under aab?!?...
p/s ; approx rm 100 million, sewing machines, washing machines halls, mosque, land title, school bags, etc.. just may not do it for some smart fellas... no matter wat they do, just cannot mend some of the broken hearts...

supposed to post this up ages ago.. just couldn't find the time to do it...
after dap managed to reduce the majority in machap... now, it's time for pkr to reduce the majority in ijok... or, perhaps to win the seat and whack the heck out of the umno-led bn...
based on the majority fm 3 general elections on this seat... umno-led bn is certainly losing out big time... but then again, since they have tons of OUR money to spend on ijok, they may get some votes here and there lah... but, for those smart and sane fellas who dun buy into their tricks, lies, etc anymore... then this spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E-S for umno-led bn!...
watever it is.. all the best tan sri khalid!... just prove wat a 60+ years old corporate figure can do, compare to a 30+ years old teacher who is under the 'guidance' fm uncle sam!...

Family torn apart over 'religion'

Rubber tapper P Marimuthu’s life changed drastically when seven officers from the Selangor Religious Department (Jais) came to his house in Kampung Baru Tambahan Ulu Yam on April 2.
The father of six was told that his wife of 21 years Raimah Bibi was a Muslim and that she and their children, aged between four and 12, must be placed in a rehabilitation centre.
The couple’s eldest son was staying with an uncle at that time.
Relating his ordeal at a press conference in the Parliament lobby today, the 44-year-old rubber tapper said he had no choice but to let the officers take his family away.
He also claimed that an ‘ustaz’ (religious scholar) had told him to covert to Islam or threatened to charge him for khalwat (close proximity) with Raimah, 40.
Raimah, who returned to help him with the rubber tapping work two days later, told him that Jais had placed the family in the nearby Kampung Melayu Liga Emas.
She purportedly said the villagers, who are predominantly Malays, have been asked to keep an eye on her daily activities and prevent her from meeting outsiders, especially her husband.
Marimuthu said he felt threatened by the villagers’ stares when he attempted to visit his wife and children.
“My wife was so afraid that she refused to come out and talk to me. I had no choice but to leave that village,” he said.
According to him, Raimah managed to sneak their children over to his house several times without anybody’s knowledge.
“We will be together for some time and then she’ll leave again to the other house,” he said.
Another heart-rendering saga
Marimuthu also does not know if his wife was a practising Muslim before they got married. Since then, he said, the two of them have been practising Hindus.
“We got married in a temple, according to Hindu rituals. All our kids were brought up as Hindus,” he said.
He said Raimah, who was adopted by an Indian Muslim family, cannot remember her adopted mother and her late adopted father had approved of their relationship.
According to Marimuthu, his wife’s MyKad had stated her name as Raimah Bibi binti Noordin and her religion as Islam.
The couple did not apply to the National Registration Department (NRD) to have this corrected either.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang, who accompanied Marimuthu, said the authorities learnt about Raimah’s ‘religious status’ when the couple enrolled their children into a school and copies of their identity cards were submitted to the education department.
“It is a simple mistake that has brought a great tragedy to the family,” he said, adding that the matter must be checked with the authorities in order for the family to be reunited.
“This is the latest in heart-rendering family sagas like in the case of R Subashini where human rights are completely ignored. Such incidents should be stopped,” he stressed.

Four lodge police reports over Machap fracas
Beh Lih Yi
Apr 3, 07 5:41pm Malaysiakini:
Two police reports have been lodged against MIC Youth chief S Vigneswaran and the wing’s members for allegedly assaulting an opposition party’s supporters and a photographer, while a third report alleged the use of abusive language against a journalist outside the Machap nomination centre today.A man has been detained for investigation in connection with complaint of assault. All three reports, lodged at the Machap Umboo police station, were related to a scuffle that broke out this morning between MIC and DAP supporters about 100 metres from the nomination centre, following a verbal spat that turned ugly.DAP Negri Sembilan members K Kannis, 42, and S Vijayan, 24, sustained injuries on their head and face in the incident and were taken to a hospital for a medical examination. In the first police report lodged by Kannis, the complainant said he and Vijayan was beaten up by MIC brigade members wielding bricks and the MIC party flag-stick at about 11.45am, after the nomination process ended. It is understood that the duo had earlier been part of a crowd of opposition supporters chanting slogans such as Samy Vellu penakut (MIC president S Samy Vellu “is a coward”), Undur lah, Samy Vellu as supporters from both camps traded verbal barbs outside the nomination centre.According to Kannis, a group of five to six men, wearing the MIC brigade t-shirt, approached him while he and some friends were walking to their vehicles.”One of them asked ‘why did you scold my president like that?’, and then I heard people shouting his name and telling him to beat me up,” Kannis told reporters at the police station. He identified three individuals - two of whom were named together with their respective MIC branches in the report - as being involved in the incident. Photographic evidence was also submitted to the police.
In the second police report, Malaysian Nanban journalist R Malini, 30, complained that vulgar words were hurled at her allegedly by an MIC brigade member when she was attempting to take photographs of a group of MIC brigade members after the incident.
She said an individual had said to her in Tamil: ‘Why don’t you strip your mother naked and take her photo?’
An upset Malini stressed she was only doing her job and that she had received several phone calls from MIC leaders, persuading her not to lodge a police report.
Claim denied
Tamil daily Makkal Osai photographer P Malayanadi, 49, in a separate police report complained he had been pushed by the MIC Youth chief with force while trying to take photographs of a man detained by the police.
Malacca chief police officer Ayub Yaakob, who arrived at the police station later, confirmed that a man aged 28 was picked up by the police at the scene of the incident and is being investigated for alleged assaut under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
“We are also tracking down two others who have been identified in the photographs,” he said.
In an immediate response, Vigneswaran - also parliamentary secretary of the youth and sports ministry - denied he had used force against anyone.
“The police were doing their work at the time and not allowing anyone to take photographs. There was already a commotion and this man came (along, trying to take photographs). I couldn’t allow another commotion to occur. I did not push him, I was just escorting him off,” he told malaysiakini when contacted.
On the two reports lodged against his men, Vigneswaran said the party would get to the bottom of the matter and the inviduals involved would face action if a case is established against them. He said MIC does not condone violence.
Asked whether the DAP is likely to capitalise on the incident in its campaign, he replied: “Let the police investigate. DAP can harp on anything and we can’t be bothered.”
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said Vigneswaran should be removed from his government position immediately, while party leader and lawyer A Sivanesan urged the Indian community in Machap to consider their options carefully before voting for the BN, of which MIC is a component party.

machap by-election... i thought of going... anyone interested?!?...
despite all the lies and one-sided news fm wat you read in the newspaper, etc... about machapians cannot live without bn, mca will bring developments, etc... i thought of planning a trip there this saturday (7th april 2007)... prolly will book a cab with a friendly indian neighbour of mine....
just a day trip.. prolly leave early in the morning and back by eveningish or so...
the opposing side is sending approx 1,000 people there... doing campaign by themselves all alone... unlike mca which is expecting approx 3,000 toothless dogs running around, is having all the perks fm the umno-led govt, advantages local council, information ministry shamelessly proved they give the word 'fairness' a bad name, polling day to be on a weekday, not sure at least 20%-25% of opposing voter can make it to vote because of the problems they may faced, election commission if just another component party of bn, etc...
to those who is following up this by-election closely and on the opposing side.. you will know how problematic the one-sided process things can get...
lemme know if you are interested in doing something better this saturday, we will go together... if i can get 2 people to go with me in the cab and this makes us 3... will go around and assist them here and there, every little action certainly counts...
if you break it down, there are 9,000+ voters in machap... if each of the 1,000 can bring in 5 votes.. that will make at least 5,000 votes for the opposing side... this is NOT impossible... especially to those who are sitting on the fence... polling day to be on 12th april 2007... a lot of heavy weights will be there for the next one week or so, let's just add to their weight, so we won't be moved so easily!...
lemme know if you are interested...
tks!...
